Powfu’s “Death Bed” is a song that seems to be sung from the perspective of a very young man who is dying. In this succinctly written poem, he is on the verge of dying. The person to whom the singer is speaking may very well be his love interest. Let’s take a look at what the lyrics to Powfu’s song “Death Bed (coffee for your head)” mean.
Indeed, it appears that the persona addressed in the song is solely his long-term wife, whom he expected to marry sooner or later. We all know, though, that this is not the storey in which his fate has dealt with him. Rather, he finds himself saying what happens to be his last words to her. Powfu’s song “Death Bed” has now reached the Billboard Hot 100, making him the first artist to do so.

Introduction
According to the aforementioned hypothesis, one of the most significant emotions expressed in the song is his commitment to his wife and his adversity in not being qualified to flourish and evolve in his love interest, rather than him intensely focusing on passing away. He certainly considers himself fortunate to have been able to indulge his passion in the first place.
However, everything is coming to an end right in front of his eyes right now. The thing we can presume from the song’s sentiments is that maybe the predominant thing that saddens Powfu as he fabricates on his physical “death bed” is proof that his moments with his love interest are approaching their final period.
Let’s get into the lyrics first before we get into the meaning of this beautiful song.
Death Bed (coffee for your head) Lyrics
[Intro: beabadoobee]
Don’t stay awake for too long, don’t go to bed
I’ll make a cup of coffee for your head
It’ll get you up and going out of bed
[Verse 1: Powfu]
Yeah, I don’t wanna fall asleep, I don’t wanna pass away
I been thinking of our future ’cause I’ll never see those days
I don’t know why this has happened, but I probably deserve it
I tried to do my best, but you know that I’m not perfect
I been praying for forgiveness, you’ve been praying for my health
When I leave this earth, hopin’ you’ll find someone else
‘Cause yeah, we still young, there’s so much we haven’t done
Getting married, start a family, watch your husband with his son
I wish it could be me, but I won’t make it out this bed
I hope I go to heaven so I see you once again
My life was kinda short, but I got so many blessings
Happy you were mine, it sucks that it’s all ending
[Chorus: beabadoobee, Powfu, beabadoobee & Powfu]
Don’t stay awake for too long, don’t go to bed
I’ll make a cup of coffee for your head
It’ll get you up and going out of bed (Yeah, ayy)
Don’t stay awake for too long, don’t go to bed
I’ll make a cup of coffee for your head
It’ll get you up and going out of bed (Ayy, yeah)
[Verse 2: Powfu]
I’m happy that you here with me, I’m sorry if I tear up
When me and you were younger, you would always make me cheer up
Taking goofy videos and walking through the park
You would jump into my arms every time you heard a bark
Cuddle in your sheets, sing me sound asleep
And sneak out through your kitchen at exactly 1:03
Sundays, went to church, on Mondays, watched a movie
Soon you’ll be alone, sorry that you have to lose me
[Chorus: beabadoobee, Powfu, beabadoobee & Powfu]
Don’t stay awake for too long, don’t go to bed
I’ll make a cup of coffee for your head
It’ll get you up and going out of bed
Don’t stay awake for too long, don’t go to bed
I’ll make a cup of coffee for your head
It’ll get you up and going out of bed
Don’t stay awake for too long, don’t go to bed
I’ll make a cup of coffee for your head
It’ll get you up and going out of bed
Don’t stay awake for too long, don’t go to bed
I’ll make a cup of coffee for your head
It’ll get you up and going out of bed
[Outro: beabadoobee]
Don’t stay awake for too long, don’t go to bed
I’ll make a cup of coffee for your head
It’ll get you up and going out of bed
Death Bed (coffee for your head) Lyrics Meaning
Let’s learn the quality meaning behind the lyrics of the song ‘Death Bed (coffee for your head)’ by Powfu.
[Intro/ Chorus/ Outro: beabadoobee, Powfu, beabadoobee & Powfu]
In the midst of such a horrific incident, the musicians in this segment are doing their utmost to remain cool and collected. They’re in a state of befuddlement, unable to comprehend what their expected next step might be. Are they supposed to be sleeping? Should they take a cup of coffee to make themselves feel better if they haven’t had enough sleep?
The irony is that these questions aren’t directed at the singer. This is a concern about his newly deceased love interest. To make himself feel comfortable, the singer treats her as if she is lying in her own bed. He mentions brewing coffee for her in case she awakens from her everlasting slumber.
[Verse 1: Powfu]
Powfu speaks up on how he’s been feeling lately in the first verse of ‘Death Bed.’ He longs to hear her voice because he’s been lonely, but he’s out of luck. Powfu is having heart issues because he has vivid images of himself marrying his love interest, and it gets worse when he knows it’s unlikely.
It’s just getting harder. When he dies, he believes he will be able to see her in the afterlife. His other half of the brain, on the other hand, raises another question mark. What if they’ve never met before? He wants to be her partner and develop alongside her. His hopes, though, have been dashed. The singer has always felt lucky having his girlfriend close by, but now that it’s over, he’s devastated.
[Verse 2: Powfu]
The singer regrets being nostalgic in the presence of the partner’s final meaning. He’s having a hard time dealing with her exit. He would have been happier if his wife had been there. Now that it’s no longer possible, his feelings are spiralling out of control. For entertainment, they will go to the park and make silly videos. Powfu then learns that his girlfriend is alone on the other end of the line, hoping he could be there for her as well. It would be easier for him to press on as a result of this.
Genius Verified: Death Bed (coffee for your head) Lyrics Meaning
[Intro: beabadoobee]
Don't stay awake for too long, don't go to bed
I'll make a cup of coffee for your head
It'll get you up and going out of bed
For the hook, it kind of just sounds like her boyfriend whatever sleeping and she’s getting him a cup of coffee, which I feel like is the way most people would look at it. And that’s how I looked at it first too. But then I kind of wanted to add my own twist to it and kind of make it a deeper meaning. And so I looked at it from the standpoint of the person that’s dying.
[Verse 1: Powfu]
Yeah, I don't wanna fall asleep, I don't wanna pass away
I been thinking of our future 'cause I'll never see those days
I heard the sample and I was just trying to make sense of what she’s saying because it is kind of confusing with the way that she says it. The way I looked at it was she’s saying, don’t stay awake for too long. So she’s saying like get my rest, and stay healthy. And then she’s also saying don’t go to bed. So the way, so like she means like don’t fully go to bed, you know, like stay alive for me. I find it easier when I rap in the person’s shoes and pretend it’s me. So yeah, with those lyrics, I just came out strong, I guess, and just kind of set the scene and told them that I’m going to pass away.
I don't know why this has happened, but I probably deserve it
I tried to do my best, but you know that I'm not perfect
That line, I’m just trying to tell her that I wasn’t perfect in multiple ways, basically. And that I might not be going to heaven for all the bad things I’ve done. Like it could be anything. It could be cheating, it could be drugs, could be alcohol. So I’m just kind of apologizing for it.
I been praying for forgiveness, you've been praying for my health
When I leave this earth, hopin' you'll find someone else
I was in the end of the notebook, there’s a scene where the older guy is dying, and so I was kind of thinking of that at the time. I was thinking of old age but in the song, it kind of sounds like I’m talking about like cancer or something like a more common sickness I guess. I was inspired by the old age part.
'Cause yeah, we still young, there's so much we haven't done
Getting married, start a family, watch your husband with his son
I’m 20 years old. So then, I just kind of merged it into my own kind of life and what I would be feeling if that situation was happening in my life at this point. And a lot of my viewers are also around the same age as me, so I feel like they connect more with it. If I were to talk about it at the age I am now. I’m like talking to her while she’s beside my deathbed and I’m just reminding her of all the cool things we did and that I’m thankful for it.
[Verse 2: Powfu]
I'm happy that you here with me, I'm sorry if I tear up
I actually don’t tear up too much. It’s yeah, I like before I had my girlfriend, I didn’t cry for like three years straight probably. I feel like when I’m with my girl though, I get more emotional, she brings out all the deep things.
When me and you were younger, you would always make me cheer up
Basically all the cute little date things that we did would make me cheer up. So like going for walks in parks or going to crummy little coffee shops and all the basic things I guess. Thinking about flashbacks and memories and how much fun we had as kids growing up together.
Taking goofy videos and walking through the park
You would jump into my arms every time you heard a bark
Me and my girlfriend will always take her dogs for walks. And so we’ll go down to this big park that’s by her house or whatever and we’ll walk through there every time we hang out usually. Basically I always like filming random stuff and trying to be funny, but I never ended up posting it cause it’s not funny. But me and my girlfriend, we’ll just film random stuff, make TikToks and stuff. And I always think it’s hilarious.
And sneak out through your kitchen at exactly 1:03
I feel like a common curfew for people is midnight. So I was like, I have to make it past midnight, otherwise, it’s not anything. And then three rhymes so I was like, let’s do 1:03.
Sundays, went to church, on Mondays, watched a movie
So I grew up going to church, so every Sunday I’ll go with my family and I actually met my girlfriend at church, so that’s how we connected. And then Mondays or weekdays we usually just chill, watch movies together and do all that stuff. My favorite movie is ‘Dear John’ by Nicholas Sparks, he wrote the book for it. It has Channing Tatum in it and Amanda Seyfried, who I think are sick actors and it hits my heart every time I watch it. He has problems with his dad and problems with his girlfriend and it’s just, I feel like it’s a sick story. It’s a great story. Really well written.
Soon you'll be alone, sorry that you have to lose me
It’s a deep song. And so I try not to make it dark. I tried to incorporate happy things into it, like talking about heaven and that there’s more than just life. And basically I’m just saying, I’m sorry that I’m leaving you because we’re best friends and we rely on each other. So I feel bad leaving her on earth by herself.
Conclusion
This extremely emotional track makes us forget about the classics such as “Romeo and Juliet” and “Titanic” because of the story in this song. Two lovers have parted ways with one another. They are on two different paths because of a naturally occurring act which is inevitable.
